CONCRETE MEMORY

2021 ART SHOW

How Modern is Contemporary Art?

“Concrete Memories” claims to elucidate conceptual ambiguities about Modern and Contemporary Art. Using an Art History timeline from the European, North American and Latin American perspectives, the artist opens the discussion about what is Modern in Contemporary Art. This timeline, available at the exhibit, stresses the Concrete movements and their relevance in Art History.

“My concern is to bring light to those movements, which, in a way, prepares the ground and continues to strongly influence Contemporary production”,     affirms Fabiana Salomão. For her, Modernism is fascinating. “In the artistic realms, it means a great break from the traditional ways, from the known. Modernism broke brilliantly from structural traditionalism,” she explains. “Contemporary Art carries the whole context of the arts, the architectural movement, design and fashion, but without adopting a single line that breaks from the past”.
